The Job
It’s been two weeks now since I’m working as a System Developer. We are working on .Net Platforms, coding specially in C#.Net (pronounced as C-Sharp dot net) and ASP.Net. The job is very challenging and needs speed of execution which really fascinates me. So wish me luck to achieve high
The Unexpected - The First Interview And A Big One
It all started when I made my first ever interview with a big big company known as Deutsche Bank. I sent my CV and a motivation letter as per advertised. I was surprised to get a call saying I was called for the first round of interviews and that I was selected. That was totally amazing for me and I think my CV and motivation letter was solid. There were big guys from UK who came to Mauritius to convey those interviews since this Deutsche Bank branch in Mauritius is a special key one as they told me.
And in this process, I made it up till the last rounds of interviews where the response was “You have an amazing attitude, personality and brilliant skills. BUT you lack working experience which is crucial for our company.” So finally, I was NOT to get the job since in the last round there was only 2 guys selected; me and the other one, who obviously had the “working experience” advantage over me. Too bad for me!
The Second Interview - Amazingly Unexpected
But then my dad said: “common it’s your first ever interview and that was a brilliant one (keeping in mind I was still expecting my results and did not have a working experience), I’m sure the next would be successful“. That gave me motivation and I finally applied for a second interview.
This one had a rather more complicated situation since we had a series of written tests. If we pass those tests, then only we can be called for an interview. So, I went for the tests, first part was coding/programming which was pretty much my thing. Second part was a theory part (i hate learning theories by heart) and the third one was an aptitude test. Damm, that aptitude test was like a chinese paper or greek paper to me, I could not understand anything. I was about to leave the test and drop out when suddenly I said to myself “since I’m here, why not do all that I can?” and besides I had my dad in my thoughts, how could I possibly disappoint him like that..).
After two days, bingo! I get a call saying “I passed the test and was called for an interview”. Things were going absolutely fast, crazy and amazing for me.
I made it for the interview where I was surprised to know that my aptitude test was remarkable. Well..I surprised myself..lol
The Second Interview Was A Success
Yeah, the interview went on fine, the boss said I gave a very good impression and had the necessary skills and was also amazed to see that I was also an online game programmer. He said: “It’s totally amazing to find young people like you sitting and coding at home..“).
And guess what? The next week, I got another phone call and finally the answer was: “You got the job!“. Eureka! I can’t explain how this news was so great for me and for my family.
Well, there is so much more that I want to talk, but I guess I should not bore you too much..lol
My Blogging Trend Influenced?
It will be influenced in the sense that I will now be a part-time blogger and I will be able to blog only on Weekends or holidays. Meaning you can expect my blogging frequency to be as low as 1 or 2 posts per Week. But I will put my best to make those posts be of good value and quality!
Else, I don’t think of more impacts since I love blogging and my internet activites so far..

Last time, you remember I was talking about designing my own custom theme? If you don’t, refresh yourself here: My First WordPress Theme
As you have (now) seen, while designing my own custom theme for my blog Wakish Wonderz, I came across a big big issue namely cross-browser compatibility. While the Beta Theme was looking great on Opera and Firefox, it was looking almost messy in other browsers like Internet Explorer, Konqueror or Epiphany (*nix users).
It is now exactly 7 weeks (due to real life time constraints), since January 2008, that I’m working on achieving one of my objectives as I laid down in Retrospective of Wakish Wonderz For The Past Year 2007, that is, to successfully design my own custom theme for my blog. (Will tell you more later..)
I can tell you that it was really a tough time to fight cross-browser compatibility issues (More on this in later articles). But, now I can say I succeeded! Yeah, finally the theme you are now seeing will be the Final Wakish Wonderz Wordpress Theme. (Until next year..lol
)
I’m really excited and happy I succeeded and partly because it is the first ever theme I have created for my blog. So now, I can hopefully resume my blogging activities *relieved*
I will not forget the support of all the fellow bloggers and friends who helped me either by giving feedbacks, support or advice. I would like to list some of them as follows:

Share This Article with your friends if you appreciate my effort to write it!As most of you have noticed I haven’t produced any articles recently, the reason being that I’m investing time to design my own wordpress theme for my blog. The theme you are viewing right now is actually the new theme and is the very first ever wordpress theme I’m coding/designing. It still needs some more work and refinement.
One of the biggest issue that I’m having with the design is “cross-browser compatibility”; meaning that “what looks good in Firefox might look different in Internet Explorer”..etc
I have been asking for advice concerning this issue with several designers and pro wordpress designers, but sadly these people seem to be silently “selfish” or perhaps they consider themselves to be too much of a “pro” to give a bit of advice? It is so shameless and sad to see that very few people are sincerely willing to help others these days.
But I would like to convey my sincere thanks to members and friends, from the different communities I’m indulged in, who are helping me with feedbacks and advice. You guys rock! (I will give a complete list of those helpful guys when I’m done with the design
)
I would like you to please give me some feedback about this theme if possible, with particular details of the browser and resolution you used and the appearance of my theme.
Also any advice will be helpful since this theme is still in “Beta” - I’m still tweaking it.
Hope to hear your feedback, advice and comments..
Share This Article with your friends if you appreciate my effort to write it!Hello dear readers, viewers and fans of Wakish Wonderz. First of all I would like to wish your family and you, a new year filled with new motivations, lots of happiness, health and prosperity. Happy New Year 2008.
I would also take this opportunity to make a retrospective of Wakish Wonderz for the past year 2007:

February 2007 - How Wakish Wonderz Started It’s Path
Back in February 16 2007, I stepped in the ocean of blogging. At that time, I had really no aim, apart from having an online presence and to share some of my experiences once in a while. You will understand what I mean just by a quick glance off my Old About Me Page.
But then as time passed by, I realised that blogging was within my reach and might actually suit my aims on the net (I love to be on the net and indulging in something creative). I started my way slowly, full of uncertainties. In the period February 2007 to July 2007, I was using a Free Hosting service - while this free service helped me a lot in my learning experiences and to have my own blog at $0 cost, I actually experienced a lot of trouble with frequent site downtime and other problems; free host means limited features and a lot of patience.
August 2007 - A New Page
But in July, I experienced a severe blow. My website was freezed (actually erased) on that Free Host which decided to become premium. Since I was not really satisfied with their service, I was reluctant to try to invest in their premium service. My website was gone for like 3 weeks during which I took time thinking about Wakish Wonderz’s future. Finally, in August 2007, I decided Wakish Wonderz should keep going and I opted for a new quality dedicated hosting service. Wakish Wonderz was back! Since then, my motivation for blogging increased. I chosed to blog only when I felt I had something to share and when I felt I could write good informative contents. With just a few quality articles, my blog was promoted to PR3. My inspiration raised even more. I tried my best to blog, but it was not easy since I was also doing my BSc course.
October 2007 - The unexpected PR4 Promotion
At the end of october 2007, my blog was promoted to PR4. This was a surprising news for me and needless to say, this gave birth to a Blogging Eruption At Wakish Wonderz.
December 2007 - Exams halted my blogging trend
But in december 2007, I hardly blogged with only 8 articles. You might have thought I was too excited and slept a bit? No
, this was because december was marked by my exams which expanded in a 3 weeks’ time. So obviously, that had an impact on my blogging trend. Dear fans of Wakish Wonderz, I apologize for my absence in december though!
What’s Up For Wakish For New Year 2008 ?
Well, my aims for Wakish Wonderz this new year 2008 are:
1) Increase & maintain my readers and viewers to at least 500 unique visits per day.
2) Increase my technorati rank as much as I can. A ranking of Top 150,000 will be a realistic target.
3) Code a new custom theme/design
4) Earn at least $3K till the end of 2008
I have a lot of hard work lying before me and coupled with real life objectives; where there is a will, there is a way!
I would like say my “sincere thank you” to all of you readers, viewers, friends, sponsors and fans who played an important role in promoting Wakish Wonderz to a Google PR4 status and to where it stands. I hope this new year 2008 will bring even more positive trends and surprises and I will successfully meet my objectives.
Sincere Regards and Best Wishes,
- Wakish -
